Scientific Balloon Designed by High School Students Reaches High Altitude

On Monday, July 23, 2012, high school students and their UNH mentors successfully flew and recovered a scientific payload that had been carried aloft by balloon to 105,700 feet. Onboard cameras captured images of a cloud-laden Earth against the blackness of outer space. The experiment was part of the students’ activities at Project SMART (Science and Mathematics Achievement through Research Training), a four-week summer residential program at UNH.
